Goalkeeping Coaching Course

Successful completion of the theoretical-practical goalkeeping coaching course at Soccer Inter-Action

Soccer Inter-Action started the year in style with the first edition of its Goalkeeping Coaching Course. Renowned speakers and all the resources of the SIA High Performance Centre were available to the registered coaches and goalkeepers. There is no more special position in the world of football than that of the goalkeeper.

The goalkeeper is one of the vital parts of this sport and due to its peculiarity needs a lot of attention and specialisation to be able to work on it and develop it in high performance. Over the years, his training has improved exceptionally, adding more and more resources and studies on how to act under the sticks, but without forgetting when he has the ball at his feet. Because of this, nowadays it is practically obligatory to be constantly aware of all the new developments and methodologies that help the specific goalkeeping coach and the goalkeeper himself to improve, which is why the best solution for keeping up to date are the Goalkeeping Coaching Courses.

Soccer Inter-Action, which has a great deal of experience in the formation of Conferences and Classes dedicated exclusively to the world of football and its development in high performance, did not want to miss the opportunity to broaden its sights in terms of coach training and for the start of the year 2020 organised its Goalkeeping Coaching Course.

This programme, held on 2 and 3 January, was attended by a varied audience – made up of goalkeeping coaches, head coaches and goalkeepers – who came with the intention of learning from the speakers, who, as is customary at Soccer Inter-Action events of this nature, were of a high standard. In other words, professionals who are key players in their elite clubs: Luca Troilo, Vicente Benlloch, Ángel López and Agustí Segura.

Agustí Segura goalkeeping coach of CD Castellón

Agustí Segura was in charge of opening the course. Segura is the current goalkeeping coach at CD Castellón, one of the most established teams on the national scene and a firm candidate for promotion to the second division this season. This season he has to deal with the figures of Álvaro Campos and Jesús López, two goalkeepers who are completing an excellent campaign, to the point of having conceded only fifteen goals in the league.

Segura completed a presentation in which his main topics were Uncertainty in Goalkeeping and the space-time relationship in on-field activities, i.e. how to get the most out of one of the fundamental pillars of training.

Luca Troilo goalkeeping coach of Levante UD

Luca Troilo was the next to come to the fore. The Italian coach is one of the heads of the goalkeeping department at Levante UD, a team that plays in the Spanish Primera División and which has been characterised for several seasons by its high level under the sticks. Troilo, who is the head goalkeeping coach of Atlético Levante in Segunda División B, gave a dynamic presentation in which he explained the ins and outs of the training process and the creation of tasks at Levante UD.

With the first day of the Goalkeeping Coaches Course completed, in which it is worth noting that in addition to the theoretical part the participants also had the opportunity to take to the pitch for various practical masterclasses with the speakers, the last day of the course was reached.

Vicente Benlloch Villarreal CF goalkeeping coach

Vicente Benlloch was in charge of opening the day and he could not have done it in a better way, as he dazzled the audience with his presentation: Process of Improvement in the Different Stages and Method of Villarreal CF with their goalkeepers. Benlloch has a great influence on the ‘groguet’ team.

Together with his colleague Marc Ramírez, this speaker is the coordinator of the goalkeeping area of Villarreal CF, one of the teams with the best youth academy in Spain and which boasts a large number of players who make it to the elite, so it was more than guaranteed to be an exhibition of a very high level.

Ángel López goalkeepers coach of Fundación Benidorm

Ángel López’s presentation was also of a very high standard. The goalkeeping coach of the Benidorm Foundation Football School is an expert in grassroots football. With extensive experience as a specialist goalkeeping coach in training football, Ángel López focused on the Intervention of Mental Processes in Training and their Transfer, that is, a subject that had a lot of crumb, especially when it came to the practical part.

On the pitch, the attendees enjoyed a pleasant and direct session in which, in addition to polishing all the details explained in the classroom, other doubts and comments came to light that enriched both this presentation and the course in general, as Ángel López’s intervention brought the SIA Goalkeeping Coaching Course to a close.

The sensations of both the attendees and the speakers were very much in line with what was experienced over the two days, as the resources of the Soccer Inter-Action High Performance Centre were fully available to everyone and the number of attendees was ideal to be in constant interaction, so it promises a next edition in which the Training Area of Soccer Inter-Action will have to face the challenge of raising the bar again.
