SIA Academy’s own club, UD SIA Benigànim, continues to compete at the highest level. The best players of Soccer Inter-Action play against the best football clubs in Spain in Tercera RFEF. Last weekend they faced CD Castellón.
The Albinegro team from the Valencian province of Castellón is one of the most historic teams in Spanish football. They even reached a Copa del Rey final. Several seasons in the First Division make up the best moments of their history. Now, their stars of the future compete against UD SIA Benigànim in Tercera RFEF.
CD Castellón History
CD Castellón was born on 20 July 1922. In its history it has played in four different categories, from Primera División for ten seasons to Tercera División. Precisely, coinciding in the 15/16 season with UD SIA Benigànim. He currently plays in Primera RFEF, the third category of Spanish football.
They have no titles in their trophy cabinet, but they do have a match for the legend. The Manzanares stadium hosted the final of the Copa del Rey between Athletic Club de Bilbao and CD Castellón in 1972. Despite losing 2-0, that match was one of the high points in the history of the Castellón club.
First and reserve teams
The first team currently plays in Primera RFEF, the third division of Spanish football. Its ranks include players such as Pablo Hernández, a former Valencia CF and Leeds United player who is already an emblem in Castalia. Last year they played in LaLiga SmartBank, the second division of Spanish football.
Their reserve team competes in the RFEF Third Division alongside UD SIA Benigànim. In their second team, the future talents of the Albinegro team are fighting to progress. Last year they were promoted after many attempts. Now, they are trying to achieve permanence in a complicated category.
Fernando Gómez Colomer’s story
Fernando Gómez Colomer is the current sporting director of CD Castellón. He took over in the summer of 2021 after a year as coach of UD SIA Benigànim. The Valencia CF legend worked at the SIA Center training the pearls of the future. He also developed the international players of the SIA Academy.
Fernando Gómez Colomer’s work has been fundamental to the SIA Academy during his time at Soccer Inter-Action. The work has paid off. CD Castellón turned to him to build their squad for the Primera RFEF. Now, all parties enjoy the work of the Valencia CF legend.
CD Castellón and UD SIA Benigànim
There is a long history between the black-and-white club and Soccer Inter-Action. The SIA Academy first team has competed against the first team and the reserve team. As well as sharing players of the stature of Fernando Gomez Colomer, there are also players with history at both clubs.
History came together again last weekend when UD SIA Benigànim hosted CD Castellón in a competitive league match. The youngsters of the Castellón reserve team faced players such as Bapodra.
UD SIA Benigànim – CD Castellón B match
UD SIA Benigànim achieved a deserved 0-0 draw against CD Castellón. A duel marked by equality at the Municipal de Benigànim. The clearest chances were for the first team of Soccer Inter-Action. Even so, they were unsuccessful in front of goal and the score ended 0-0. Iván Llorens plays for CD Castellón B.
Last season he played for UD SIA Benigànim. The Valencian centre-back is an example of good Soccer Inter-Action practice. After playing at a good level in the first team of SIA Academy he managed to get a place in CD Castellón.
Opportunities at SIA Academy
SIA Academy allows you to compete against big Spanish football clubs. Valencia CF, Levante UD, Villarreal CF, CD Castellón and Hércules CF play in the same league as UD SIA Benigànim. The Tercera RFEF is a unique opportunity for international players. Cases like Siddarth Bapodra are examples of how far you can go.
The Indian striker came to the international academy of SIA Academy and has found a place in Tercera RFEF. Pablo Muñoz from the SIA Academy subsidiary of CB Massanassa has joined as a goalkeeper. They have competed against the best football clubs in Spain and in the best sporting cities in Spain.
