SIA ACADEMY PERFORMS WELL AT INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT
The 2021 edition of the Costa Girona Cup has been a great success for the interests of the SIA Academy Football School. The SIA Massanassa benjamín team was the Academy’s representative and caused a sensation at the international football tournament thanks to its high performance.
Football tournaments in Spain
The summer football tournament season couldn’t have got off to a better start for the SIA Academy Football School in Massanassa. The 8-a-side categories are a fundamental pillar in this International Football Academy and this has been demonstrated once again.
The setting of the Costa Girona Cup tournament was ideal for SIA Academy. It is not always possible to play against clubs of the stature of Real Sociedad, Villarreal CF, RCD Español, Valencia CF or Levante UD and these opportunities must be seized.
SIA Academy, taking advantage of the premiere of its Football School in Massanassa, chose one of its youngest teams to be represented in the Costa Girona Cup. This decision was a success, as the SIA Massanassa team shone with their own light.
Participate in the Costa Girona Cup
More than 1,250 players took to the field at the Costa Girona Cup 2021 international tournament. Prebenjamines, benjamines, alevines, infantiles, cadets and juveniles. The best categories at the service of one of the most exciting international football tournaments in Spain this summer.
With no less than 60 teams, the Soccerland CAT facilities were chosen as the venue for the competition. Natural grass pitches ready to welcome teams such as Valencia CF, Levante UD, Villarreal CF, Real Sociedad, SIA Academy, RCD Español, CD Tortosa, Marcet Football, FT Academia 380, AE Foc or Ribetana CF.
In addition to these national clubs, international entities such as Massachutts Rush or International Prospect Academy also participated, creating a globalised competitive atmosphere during the days of 23-27 June.
SIA Massanassa, semi-finalist of Costa Girona Cup
The Benjamins Tournament was one of the highlights of the Costa Girona Cup. The high level of the teams foreshadowed an exciting group stage. RCD Espanyol, Villarreal CF, CF Damm were SIA Academy’s rivals. And, as expected, they did not disappoint.
SIA Academy gave a blow to the table by winning Group A after defeating Villarreal CF by five goals to nil, RCD Espanyol by one to nil and CF Damm by one goal. A magnificent performance by the SIA Massanassa Football School that allowed them to qualify for the Final Phase.
They also left their mark on the final phase with some great games. In fact, the SIA Academy’s benjamins reached the semi-finals, where they faced Valencia CF.
The che team was the only one to beat the Massanassa team and eventually won the tournament.
