Important role in training
As part of the comprehensive training we offer at SIA Academy, the use of advanced technological tools, such as video analysis cameras, is a cornerstone in the preparation and competition of our high performance football players. In this context, technical analysis, carried out by specialists in the sport, such as the analyst in high performance football, plays a crucial role.
Among these experts is the analyst, who, together with the technical team, carries out an exhaustive video analysis of key moments of each player, where he observes, evaluates and examines sporting situations such as training, match development or specific actions, during the entire training process of the academy’s football programme.
Differences between Scouter and Analyst
The word analysis, according to the RAE (2022), translates into computer applications of video analysis, a detailed study of something or a distinction and separation of the parts of something in order to know its composition. This approach is applied with precision in football using state-of-the-art technological tools.
The Scouter: Talent Scout and Strategist
The scout plays a crucial role in identifying talent and gathering strategic information for the club. Their work is bifurcated into:
- Field Tracking: A task that involves attending specific matches, identifying potential future recruits in different geographical areas.
- Use of Specialised Software: Modernity brings with it the use of software such as Wyscout, allowing remote viewing of matches and avoiding unnecessary travel.
It is essential that the scout understands the club’s game model, analysing not only the player’s technical skills, but also his social, family, cultural and environmental context in order to foresee his adaptation to the team.
The Analyst: Data Processor for Strategy
The analyst, the professional in charge of processing, analysing and breaking down sports data, becomes a fundamental element of the coaching staff. Although not mandatory, a technical background in football is a plus. Their work includes:
- Specialised Software Management: Skills in the use of analysis software such as Longomatch, Nacsport and EricSport are crucial.
- In-depth Game Analysis: Breakdown of actions and situations of both your own and your opponent’s team to anticipate and counter situations during the match.
Unlike the scouter, the analyst is an active part of the coaching staff, working closely with the coach. Their focus is not to replace the coach, but to provide information and tactical solutions. The increasingly common presence of analysts in coaching staffs underlines the importance of their strategic contribution.
At SIA Academy, the figure of the analyst guarantees a comprehensive and technologically advanced vision of the preparation and competition of our players, boosting their development in high performance football.
