Intro:
This Sunday the Amateur SIA Alzira squad faced off against Moixent C.F. in an away match for the 4th round of the second FFCV division. The Amateur SIA Alzira squad featured several international players taking part in SIA Academy’s Next Gen Soccer Pro program. Some of those international players were integrated as part of SIA Alzira’s starting line-up while others were brought on throughout the match for support. Although the score did not favor them in the end this match showed SIA Alzira’s ability to bring momentum back their way as they came back from behind to tie up the game.
Match summary:
The game began with the home side, Moixent C.F., taking an early lead as there was confusion in the defensive line which left their striker open for a shot on goal. Having momentum against them from the start SIA Alzira began pushing for procession and using the width of the field to create more passing lanes. It didn’t take long before SIA Alzira had the ball in the opponent’s half and with a quick cross from the wing to the striker, they tied up the game. The assist came from one of SIA Academy’s own Next Gen Soccer Pro athletes. With the score now tied up again the home side took back control of the game and began pressuring SIA Alzira in their defensive half. This high pressure gave Moixent 2 new scoring opportunities in which they were able to finalize.
The second half SIA Alzira brought in fresh attacking players from the bench hoping to breathe more life into the team’s offence. This included a formation switch that now counted on 3 center back players. The new formation seemed to level out the game as the second half went on without any clear goal opportunities for either side.
At the end of the second half, due to an unlucky quick counter, Moixent C.F. managed to gain an opening behind the defense which put the game away for good.
MVP:
The striker Alejandro earned the first MVP spot for SIA Alzira’s squad as he had an incredible performance against Moixent’s backline and managed to score the tying goal early in the first half. The second MVP spot went to the goalkeeper Bernat S. who made several tough stops during the match.
