On the night of Friday 25th August, the pre-season friendly match between Inter San José “B” and UD Alzira Juvenil “B” took place at the Beniferri ground.
Our academy international player, 17 year old Jill Meghani from India, was called up to be part of this match. An opportunity to play with professional teams from Spain.
The ball rolled around during the 90 minutes of the match, where in the first half UD Alzira dominated the ball and took it into the opposition box most of the time. Jill, who came on as a right winger, pressed in the opposition half.
UD Alzira were solid on this occasion, attacking on several occasions, coming close to scoring on several occasions. They also closed the spaces adequately, as a consequence, the opposing team was only able to generate danger with long-range shots. One of these resulted in a goal in the second half, the same one that would give them the victory in the match.
The number 8 of Inter San José stood out in the match with his powerful long-range shot. And in the defensive line of the Alcireños youth team, the number 5, who maintained an excellent performance in all facets of the game.
In the second half, Inter San José had more control of the ball and held their ground better.
How did the transitions go?
“We stayed together in defence and, when we recovered, we moved quickly and kept the block compact in search of generating danger, showing the same productivity in reverse transitions, where we went back with intensity after loss and only the two closest players recovered after loss”. Words from the UD Alzira strategist.
UD Alzira coach David Cantú commented yesterday: “We generated a considerable number of chances to have scored, but today the ball didn’t want to go in the goal”. He stated that they lacked finishing accuracy as a point for improvement.
