STRUCTURED TRAINING IN HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT

Structured-training-sport

Structured training is a sports training approach based on specificity, individualisation, a global approach and differential learning, respecting the different structures that make up the athlete.

What is structured training based on in the SIA Academy’s high-performance sports training?

Structured training divides the sports session into several parts, which can be divided into targeted sessions, specific sessions and competitive sessions. These are the three most commonly used, we must also take into account that we must increase the difficulty, always from lower to higher following a progression within the session.

We must also consider the moment of the season in which we find ourselves, for example if we are playing a postponed match or another competition during the week, if we are coming from a holiday break, etc., all of this counts when planning and structuring a sports session.

Another aspect to highlight is the club’s aims in terms of the objectives to be set and developed with the team in question. This is also closely linked to the age of the players and the current position in the league table in which we find ourselves.

We will structure the session after knowing all the aspects mentioned above, thus giving more importance to the tasks to be developed. Once the regular season has started, specific and competitive work, depending on the context of the team, are the most important when looking for competitive objectives.

How is the training structure worked out?

The training structure is worked out by creating microcycles to follow a clear order and setting weekly objectives. Within each microcycle there can be as many sessions as required, depending on the weekly training sessions.

Within each session this is divided into tasks, which should seek a progression from less to more difficult, from the simple to the complex, from the analytical to the real game.

Each week we work on a different microcycle, this set of microcycles is called a macrocycle.

At SIA ACADEMY we work with an order and a structure. Now we will detail a typical week, always putting together all the parts of a high performance sports staff, (Psychology, Nutrition, Physical Preparation, Physiotherapy), being a fundamental part to make a good structured training.
