UD SIA Benigànim were unable to continue their good run of form in Tercera RFEF. The first team of SIA Academy fought until the end to get the three points against Callosa Deportiva, but a goal in the last play resulted in the 0-1 final score.
Even so, a great performance from the Soccer Inter-Action players. The ‘ganxut’ team managed possession for most of the game. Callosa Deportiva went for the counter-attack as they did last time out against Valencia Mestalla, and came close to victory. The Alicante side finished the game off in the 94th minute.
UD SIA Benigànim – Callosa Deportiva
The SIA Academy first team knew they would not have an easy match. Callosa Deportiva are competing for the same objectives as UD SIA Benigànim, so it would be a competitive match. It was the details that ended up tipping the balance in favour of the Alicante side.
The young players of Soccer Inter-Action were able to learn from another great match in Tercera RFEF. In front of them were several players with experience in the Second Division and other European elite categories. A very tough opponent that meant another great dose of experience.
How was the first part?
The first half of UD SIA Benigànim – Callosa Deportiva was a carousel of goal scoring opportunities. Both teams went on the attack and it was the SIA Academy side who had more chances. Iván, Blanco and Javi Berenguer channelled the ‘ganxut’ attack with shots that narrowly missed the target.
Callosa Deportiva tried to break down the SIA Benigànim defence, although the ‘ganxuts’ were comfortable in defence. Nobody was going to break the deadlock before the tunnel, although it wasn’t because of desire, intensity or chances to do so.
How did the second half go?
The second half was dominated by Callosa Deportiva. The Alicante side had the lion’s share of possession, and Salva was on hand to repel the visitors’ shots. A great exercise in resistance that came close to being rewarded.
In the last second of the game, Callosa Deportiva took a free-kick and Juanjo Manresa leapt to make it 0-1 with a providential header. Salva could do nothing. In the end, a painful defeat that serves as a lesson to learn and not to lower our heads after the fantastic effort made.
Play against professional football players with SIA Academy
UD SIA Benigànim – Callosa Deportiva was not going to be easy. The Alicante team’s squad is full of great players with experience in Spanish professional football and in the elite of other European countries.
This is the case, for example, of Cases. This player from Callosa Deportiva has experience in the Icelandic first division, even playing in European competitions. Ferran is another player who has played for two Icelandic first division clubs. Although, among all of them, midfielder David López stands out.
David Lopez, an opponent with European finals experience
The SIA Academy first team had to face David Lopez. The midfielder and defender from Callosa Deportiva is a legend at Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League. He competed at a high level there for three years, although his best moments were with Athletic Club de Bilbao.
After leaving CA Osasuna he joined Athletic Club, where he played in the Europa League final against Atlético de Madrid. Almost 150 games as a player of the Bilbao club followed his experiences in Brighton, CD Lugo, SD Huesca, UCAM Murcia, Novelda CF, CF Intercity, CD Eldense and now Callosa Deportiva.
