TIFUT 2022 returns with great success. The International Football Tournament held in Massanassa, organised by the City Council, returned after a two-year break due to the pandemic. The 16th edition brought together some of the best football clubs in Spain. Elche CF was the team that was crowned champion of the TIFUT.
The two Soccer Inter-Action teams, SIA Academy and CDB SIA Massanassa, enjoyed a great experience. They played against professional teams. In addition, they had the support of their families in the packed stands of the Municipal Vicente Moreno de Massanassa.
How was TIFUT 2022?
TIFUT 2022 is back better than ever. Two days full of high-level football and a festive atmosphere at the Vicente Moreno Municipal. The draw produced two evenly matched groups: Villarreal CF, RC Deportivo de La Coruña, Elche CF and CDB SIA Massanassa were drawn in group A. Valencia CF, Albacete Balompié, SIA Academy and Combinat Aleví in group B.
Summer 2022, the group stage and quarter-final matches took place. A total of 16 matches of 30 minutes each, where 81 goals were scored. A frenzy of grassroots football and partying that made for a more than attractive semi-final and final draw.
TIFUT 2022 group stage
Group A was totally dominated by Elche Club de Fútbol. They beat Dépor 2-1, SIA Massanassa 6-0 and Villarreal CF 7-0. The Galicians were the runners-up, beating Villarreal 6-2 and CDB SIA Massanassa 9-0. The local Massanassa team enjoyed a great 2-0 win over Villarreal Club de Fútbol to finish third and the ‘groguets’ fourth.
In group B, Valencia CF came out on top with a 5-1 win over Albacete, an 8-0 win over Combinat Alevi and a 10-0 win over SIA Academy. Behind them came Combinat Alevi, who beat SIA Academy 4-0 and Albacete Balompié 1-0. The team from Castilla-La Mancha took third place with a 1-1 draw against SIA Academy, beating them on goal-average.
Final phase of TIFUT 2022
All the participating teams reached the quarter-finals where there were no surprises. The top teams qualified for the semi-finals. Elche Club de Fútbol beat SIA Academy 4-0 and Valencia CF beat Villarreal CF 3-1. In the next round, RC Deportivo beat Albacete 2-0 and Combinat Alevi beat CDB SIA Massanssa 3-2.
Maximum equality in the semi-finals. Valencia – Deportivo, a very attractive match, was settled on penalties after a 1-1 draw and it was the Galicians who reached the final. Elche, for their part, were able to win the semi-final against Combinat Alevi by 0-1. The grand final of TIFUT 2022 was won by Elche CF with a 3-2 victory over RC Deportivo de La Coruña.
Success at TIFUT 2022
TIFUT 2022 has made a very successful comeback. Two years of drought due to the pandemic came to an end with the eagerly awaited 16th edition. Eight teams that have starred in a great celebration of grassroots football in the Municipal Vicente Moreno de Massanassa. Two days full of great atmosphere and passion. The Massanassa Town Hall bet on the return of this tournament to get back on track again.
Great atmosphere in the stands
The stands of the Municipal Vicente Moreno were packed to enjoy the return of TIFUT 2022. The occasion deserved it. Several of the best football clubs in Spain gathered in Massanassa to compete against the CDB SIA Massanassa players. The SIA Academy school was also part of the party.
The stands were full both in the group stage and in the knockout stages. A celebration of grassroots football that took the name of Massanassa to A Coruña and Albacete. The TIFUT 2022 also allowed the restoration of the town to make money and put the town on the national football map.
National success
The participation of big clubs such as Valencia CF, Villarreal CF, RC Deportivo de La Coruña or Albacete Balompié has taken Massanassa to all parts of Spain. Great quarries of our Spanish football were cited in the Municipal Vicente Moreno.
All the clubs have been keeping an eye on the performance of their teams in the TIFUT 2022, as well as the visitors to the tournament. It has been a nice edition for Spanish grassroots football and Massanassa to come together again in this tournament, to be enjoyed by the whole population and to continue to succeed in the years to come.
