Four Sports Psychology workshops at the SIA Academy Christmas Football Campus
At the recent SIA Academy Christmas Soccer Camp, the Sports Psychology department played a key role by conducting four group workshop sessions focused on key aspects that contribute to the integral development of soccer players. These activities aimed not only to improve performance on the field, but also to strengthen the mental and emotional skills of the participants.
Week 1: Group Cohesion and Mutual Understanding
The first week of the Christmas soccer camp began with a workshop dedicated to group cohesion and strengthening the bonds between participants. This workshop focused on consolidating the relationships that were established during training and in various instances of the academy. Fostering effective communication and mutual understanding was essential to build a solid foundation for the team.
Psychological management of frustration
The second activity focused on providing players with an in-depth understanding of the psychological management of frustration. Participants explored the nature of this emotion, identified relevant factors and learned effective coping strategies. This session aimed to equip soccer players with valuable tools to handle challenging situations during matches and everyday life.
Week 2: Identifying Human Qualities for Successful Team Building
During the second week of the Christmas Football Campus, the third activity focused on the identification of human qualities essential for the formation of a successful team. Those characteristics considered fundamental for the optimal functioning of a sports group were highlighted. This workshop provided participants with a deeper understanding of the importance of collaboration, empathy and teamwork.
Management from the bench
The last session in our Christmas Soccer Camp addressed the psychological management of players playing from the bench. Cognitive strategies to take advantage of this situation were explored and the temporality and impersonality of substitution was emphasized. Participants learned to see this position as an opportunity for personal growth and contribution to the team.
All these activities underlined the relevance of psychological work both on and off the field. The expression of sensations and emotions related to sports performance was revealed as a fundamental aspect for the integral development of soccer players.
