AFUTCOP SCHOOL TOURNAMENT: A NOT-TO-BE-MISSED EXPERIENCE
SIA Academy representatives travelled to Chile to celebrate the SIA Academy 2023 Qualifier. Gianna Medina, Marketing & Business Development Director, and Rafa Navarro, Sports Director, were present at the AFUTCOP School Tournament 2023.
The grand prize of the SIA Academy 2023 Qualifier was a sports scholarship for a week of high-performance training at our facilities with accommodation and full board at our SIA Center, valued at more than €25,000.
Who participated in the SIA Academy 2023 Qualifier?
The SIA Academy 2023 Qualifier kicked off on Tuesday 28 November with the quarter-final matches. These were the schools that participated:
Colegio San Anselmo, Colegio San Benito, Colegio Tabancura, Colegio Cordillera, Colegio Everest, Lincoln International Academy de Chicureo and Colegio del Verbo Divino.
SIA Academy Qualifier Semi-Finals
On Thursday, 30 November, only 4 schools were in the running for the coveted prize of a week of high performance at SIA Academy. These were the semi-final match-ups:
- Colegio San Benito (5) vs Lincoln International Academy de Chicureo (0)
- Colegio del Verbo Divino (2) vs Colegio Cordillera (3)
SIA Academy Qualifier Grand Final
The Grand Final of the SIA Academy Qualifier was held on Saturday, 2 December, with the support of a large group of spectators who cheered on their teams until the last second. The Grand Final was disputed between Colegio San Benito and Colegio Cordillera.
Colegio San Benito was the winner of the match thanks to the goal that gave them the lead and led them to victory (2- 1).
We congratulate both schools for their commitment throughout the year and especially in this Grand Final of the SIA Academy Qualifier for the Chile AFUTCOP School Tournament 2023.
AFUTCOP 2023 GALA.
The AFUTCOP 2023 Gala was held on December 4th. Our representatives, along with the tournament organisers, were there to formally present the awards to the various participants in the AFUTCOP 2023 School Tournament.

SIA Academy 2023 Qualifier Prizes
Earlier we mentioned that the grand prize of the SIA Academy 2023 Qualifier was a scholarship for a week of high-performance sports training with accommodation and full board at our SIA Center. The winning team was Colegio San Benito.
In addition, we awarded the two best players of the AFUTCOP 2023 School Tournament in Chile with a scholarship for an additional 3 weeks in our academy’s football programme. These were: Matias Gazmuri (Colegio San Benito) and Santiago Villarroel (Colegio Cordillera).
SIA Academy Clinic in Chile
On Saturday, 2 December, prior to the final match of the SIA Academy – AFUTCOP 2023 Qualifier, a clinic was held with players from the AFUTCOP national football team.
This clinic was led by Rafa Navarro together with Felipe Seymour, former player of the First Division of the Universidad de Chile Club and of the National Under-23 Team. They conducted different dynamics for about an hour where the players experienced a European style game training.
At the beginning of the clinic, the players received a SIA Academy t-shirt, a snack and a certificate of participation.
SIA Academy visited schools in Santiago de Chile.
As part of the agenda of activities for our Academy directors, they visited the SIA Academy Qualifier Schools: Colegio San Anselmo, Colegio San Benito, Colegio Tabancura, Colegio Cordillera, Colegio Everest Santiago, Lincoln International Academy de Chicureo, Colegio del Verbo Divino, Colegio San Ignacio El Bosque and The Grange School.
They met with the principals and coaches of each of these schools to discuss the work of the SIA Academy, the alliance with AFUTCOP and to inform them of the great benefits that we can offer players on an individual and team level with team tours at our SIA Center.
In addition, talks were given to SIA Academy Qualifiers players, who will receive a 15% discount on our football programmes for having participated in the AFUTCOP 2023 School Tournament.
We look forward to welcoming the players from the winning team of the SIA Academy Qualifying Tournament, as well as the best players from the AFUTCOP 2023 School Tournament to our academy this year 2024, in order to contribute to their individual and collective growth and development. Undoubtedly, a great experience to live.
