Goalkeeper: the guardian of the team

The goalkeeper is the last line of defense and the first initiator of the offensive play. Their primary role is to prevent the ball from entering the goal, but they must also contribute to defensive organization and be a leader on the field.

To improve in this position, SIA Academy emphasizes:

  • Reflexes and agility: Specific training to improve reaction to shots and unexpected plays.
  • Aerial play: Development of the ability to clear crosses and dominate the area confidently.
  • Ball distribution: Improvement in the accuracy of throws and passes to initiate plays effectively.

Defenders: the wall of the team

Defenders are tasked with protecting the goal and making it difficult for opposing attackers to advance. There are different types of defenders:

  • Center backs: Responsible for marking opposing forwards, intercepting balls, and leading the defense.
  • Full-backs: In addition to defending, they must contribute to the attack with crosses and runs down the flanks.

To improve as a defender, SIA Academy focuses on:

  • Marking techniques: Learning to anticipate the opponent’s movements and applying effective defense.
  • Ball distribution from the back: Developing the ability to start plays from defense with precision.
  • Physical conditioning and speed: Programs to improve endurance and quickness in movements.

Midfielders: the engine of the team

The midfield is the area where plays are built and the balance between defense and attack is maintained. There are different types of midfielders:

  • Defensive midfielder: Responsible for recovering the ball and providing stability to the team.
  • Playmaker: Their function is to distribute the game and connect defense with attack.
  • Attacking midfielder: Specialist in creating goal-scoring opportunities and assisting forwards.

To stand out in midfield, SIA Academy focuses on:

  • Ball control and passing: Exercises to improve accuracy in short and long passes.
  • Game vision: Developing the ability to anticipate movements and make smart decisions.
  • Endurance and mobility: Physical training to maintain high performance for 90 minutes.

Forwards: the team’s goal scorers

The main objective of forwards is to score goals and create danger in the opponent’s area. There are different types of forwards:

  • Center forward: Specialist in finishing inside the box and taking advantage of every goal opportunity.
  • Wingers: Fast players who break down defenses on the flanks and assist teammates.
  • Second striker: A more mobile attacker who connects with the midfield.

To improve as a forward, SIA Academy trains:

  • Finishing: Intensive finishing drills to improve effectiveness in front of goal.
  • Off-the-ball movements: Learning to find space and anticipate offensive plays.
  • One-on-one situations: Developing the ability to beat defenders in individual duels.
