Alziristas stopped Hércules CF winning streak
Last Sunday, November 19th, UD Alzira visited the José Rico Pérez stadium to play against Hércules CF. The team from Alicante only knew the victory at home this season, but an early goal from Alzira and their defensive solidity stopped Hércules winning streak. Dylan Iglesias’ great first-half performance turned Hércules coach Rubén Torrecilla’s approach upside down.
The azulgrana team warned with dangerous chances from the first moments of the game until Dylan put the ball inside the goal in the 11th minute. A masterful throw-in that ended up at the feet of Manel Busquets and that he gave to Dylan, surprised the local defense. Dylan, already inside the box, cut inside and finished off the play with a shot that went wide to the right side of the goalkeeper because it hit the feet of a defender. It seemed that the game was decided by the azulgranas because shortly after getting the first goal Busquets crossed the ball to the right side, but Carlos Abad intervened.
The plans of Marc García, UD Alzira coach, were frustrated with Pitu’s injury in the 27th minute and, from that moment, the dominance of the match changed. The restructuring of the team with Marenyà’s entry seemed to hold well the assaults of the home team, but a header from Roger cut the gap on the scoreboard in the 40th minute and increased the concern of the away team. The Valencians held well the last minutes of the first half and the teams went to the break with a draw on the scoreboard.
The second half had just one name, Hércules CF. The dominance in the game and the continuous attacks of the Alicantinos made the good play of azulgranas impossible. The Herculanos warned in the 48th minute, but a providential Vicent Dolz stopped everything that came his way. Mángel and Palacín’s entry in the 63th minute failed to add improvement to the game. Marc García’s players were content to defend and settle for the point they were savoring. Adrián Crespo and Pana came on in the 87th minute to provide defensive solidity and work, although the locals were not satisfied with the draw. Such was the dominance of Hércules that Coscia, former UD Alzira player, caused silence in Alzira fans with a goal in the 90th minute that did not go on the scoreboard because of hands.
March García emphasized in the press conference the importance of the point that his team had achieved, as no team has been able to steal a point from the blanquiazules. Also, he recalled the action involving Solbes and Mendes in the final stretch, where Mendes assaulted Solbes. A small controversy that no member of the refereeing team saw or sanctioned, but it happened because Solbes had to leave the game for a few moments because his nose was bleeding. An action that would not have changed the dynamics of the game, according to Marc Garcia.
