The Guillermo Amor Municipal Field in Benidorm, Alicante, became the setting for an exciting friendly match between Spain’s U-19 national soccer team and their Norwegian counterparts. However, what made this event even more special was the enthusiastic presence of the SIA Academy players, who, as privileged spectators, not only enjoyed the match, but also absorbed valuable lessons from the stands.

SIA Academy players, members of the annual high performance program, have once again demonstrated their commitment to their overall development as soccer players by participating in this important experience. This friendly, designed to measure the skills of the national players and prepare them for the qualifiers for the elite round of the U-19 European Championship, offers an invaluable perspective on the competitive level and tactics employed at the highest youth level.

In the second meeting between these teams, the Guillermo Amor pitch witnessed a pulsating duel that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. Kevin Sanchez, wearing the number 9 jersey, led the charge from the start, scoring the crucial winning goal in the 63rd minute, demonstrating his skill and prowess.

Sergi Domínguez, who replaced Kevin Sánchez in the 77th minute, continued the outstanding performance of the Spanish U-19 representatives. Likewise, Mella, entering the game in the second half, played a key role in the Spanish comeback. His great gallop down the left flank and subsequent pass into the box evidenced the quality and versatility that Spanish players bring to the field.

It is important to emphasize that these sporting events, beyond being an enriching experience for the academy players, also offer substantial benefits for their overall development. From the stands, our athletes can closely observe the dynamics of the game, the strategies employed by both teams and the intensity of the professional level. This unique perspective from the stands complements their academy training, giving them a deeper and more enriching understanding of soccer.

In addition, part of the experience included the opportunity to meet with Guillermo Amor, former player of FC Barcelona, Villarreal CF, and former international with the Spanish national football team, who also has the honour of giving his name to the Municipal Stadium in the city of Benidorm, Alicante, where he is a native of.

These outings to professional events are part of SIA Academy’s comprehensive strategy to nurture not only the physical skills of the players, but also their mental and emotional well-being. Exposure to different environments in the football ecosystem contributes to their growth as athletes and human beings, preparing them for the challenges they may face in their future careers.
