Frederico Pereira Morais: New Sports Director at SIA Academy

There are many profiles in the world of sports — and then there’s Frederico Morais, the new Sporting Director at SIA Academy. A technical expert with a strategic mindset, Frederico doesn’t just lead; he transforms careers, mentalities, and sports structures from the ground up. With over 15 years of international experience and a UEFA Pro Licence, he has built a solid career that began in Portugal and has left its mark in India, Norway, England, and beyond.

At SIA Academy, the foundations for a professional environment are already in place. My goal now is to take it to the next level—with clear standards, a modern and individualized methodology, and a deep commitment to the development of each player: tactically, technically, psychologically, and physically.
I believe that the pursuit of excellence requires special attention to the human side of the game. High expectations must be balanced with empathy, trust, and communication. True progress happens when players feel equally challenged and supported.

Frederico brings more than just international experience—he brings depth. His work goes beyond coaching; it’s about understanding the game through the lens of local culture, adapting methodologies, and enhancing performance through detail. At Kerala Blasters FC (India), he served as head coach of the first team, applying a meticulous tactical approach that helped develop local talent with a European vision. At Sarpsborg 08 FF (Norway), he worked as assistant coach for the first team and as a coach educator, leaving a lasting impact not only on players but also on those who train them. At Leyton Orient FC (England), he was the right hand of the head coach, responsible for opponent analysis, in-game tactical adjustments, and post-match reviews—a role often invisible, but always crucial.

He also contributed to prestigious academies such as AS Monaco Soccer Schools, where he coached the U17 team, aligning training sessions with the club’s identity and focusing on both technical and emotional development. At AC Milan Soccer Schools, he led coach education for youth categories from U5 to U14, promoting early and consistent professionalization. His journey began at Boavista FC, a historic club that also served as the starting point for players like Bruno Fernandes and André Gomes.

Because while some coaches celebrate titles, Frederico celebrates careers. His impact is measured by how he turns potential into professional trajectories. Among the players who grew under his leadership are Bruno Fernandes, whom he coached at youth level and was the first to name as captain; André Gomes, whom he developed during his U19 stage and describes as “a professional from the very beginning”; and talents like Ismaila Coulibaly and Jørgen Strand Larsen, both shaped by his patience and long-term vision of the game.

His methodology blends intuition with science. Advanced video analysis, individual development programs, microcycle design, psychotactical evaluation, and performance and scouting software are part of his daily toolkit. This approach is backed by a strong academic foundation that reflects his commitment to excellence: he holds a PhD in Sports Science from the University of Porto (2024), a Bachelor’s degree from the same institution, the UEFA Pro Licence since 2016, and has completed specialized courses in tactical analysis, Coerver methodology, and FA youth development.

Frederico is also a recognized voice on platforms such as Modern Soccer Coach and LinkedIn, where he shares insights on modern football, tactical analysis, and the future of player development. His style blends the best of classic football—where the process is respected—with the demands of today’s game: data, adaptability, and a global vision.

He doesn’t seek the spotlight—he multiplies talent. Wherever he sets foot, he leaves a mark. Wherever he sets his mind, he improves structures. For all these reasons, we proudly welcome him to SIA Academy.

Welcome, Frederico !!
